Legal
Terms of Use
Effective October 15, 2026
1. The licence agreement
LaneScope ("the app") is licensed to you, not sold, under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA"). The Standard EULA applies to your use of the app and of the LaneScope Pro subscription. The terms below add to it for things specific to this app. Where they conflict, the Standard EULA wins.
2. LaneScope Pro subscription
- Pro is an auto-renewing subscription, offered monthly or yearly, bought through the App Store and charged to your Apple ID. The price is shown in the app before you buy.
- New subscribers may get a free trial. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, the subscription starts and you're charged.
- The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- Manage or cancel the subscription in your iPhone's Settings, under your name, then Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Payments, renewals and refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's terms. We can't issue refunds ourselves; request them from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- We may change what Pro includes or its price. A price change for an existing subscription follows Apple's rules, including notice and, where required, your consent.
3. Measurements are estimates
LaneScope measures your throws from video taken with your phone's camera. Every figure it shows, including ball speed, rev rate, boards, angles, strike chance, suggested lines and coaching tips, is an estimate. Accuracy depends on the tripod position, lane setup, lighting, the ball and other conditions. The app is meant as a practice aid. Measurements aren't official, may be wrong, and shouldn't be relied on for competition, equipment certification, betting, or any decision where an error would matter. The app is provided "as is", without any warranty about the accuracy or completeness of its measurements, to the extent the law allows.
4. Using the app at the lanes
- Follow the rules of the bowling centre. Some centres don't allow tripods or filming; ask if you're unsure.
- Set the tripod up where it can't trip anyone or block another lane, and keep it clear of the approach. You're responsible for your equipment and for using it safely.
- Respect other people's privacy. Clips may capture other bowlers. Ask before filming or sharing videos of people in your group or at nearby lanes.
- Tape or other markings you put on a ball to help read rev rate may not be allowed in league or tournament play. Remove them first.
5. Your data
Your videos and measurements stay on your iPhone and belong to you. We don't hold a copy, so we can't recover them if they're lost or deleted. Export your sessions if you want a backup. See the Privacy Policy for details.
6. Not affiliated
LaneScope is an independent app. It isn't affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the United States Bowling Congress (USBC), any bowling centre, or any ball manufacturer. The ball list in the app is based on USBC's public list of approved balls; ball and brand names belong to their owners. Apple, iPhone and App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc.
7. Liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any indirect or consequential loss, injury or damage from using the app, including from relying on its measurements or from setting up equipment at a bowling centre. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the consumer law where you live.
8. Changes
We may update these terms. The new version will be posted here with a new effective date. If you keep using the app after a change, the updated terms apply.
